Are you really ready for your college academic life?
It is often the case parents and students focus mostly on getting into a decent college, but what about the real deal when you get in a college? Are students fully capable and prepared to tackle their years in college?
Trinity Scholar’s pre-college program is for students who will be studying abroad for college in the Fall. This is the only course offered in Taiwan that has been exclusively designed to not only reinforce students’ academic performance but also help them adapt well to college curriculum and college life.
What are the differences between writing essays in high school vs college?
TrinityScholar's pre-college writing course begins with a general description of essay writing, including brainstorming, and moves to a discussion of common essay genres students may encounter across the curriculum. The four genres of essays (description, narration, exposition, and argumentation) are common paper assignments you may encounter in college. Most importantly, students from all majors in college are bound to be writing research papers, using MLA research and citation. Moreover, students in Taiwan are not so familiar with how serious plagiarism is in the states. Thus, the pre-college writing course is explicitly designed to best help students in college.
Case Study
Student, A, studied at the top public high school in Taiwan and scored 800 (full mark) on his English section for the SAT. He, however, found our pre-college writing course extremely helpful and absolutely necessary for him to prep for college. Though he is able to score a perfect score in the English section of the SAT, he said he had no idea how to write academically, especially for what is expected in college. He gave us great feedback saying the course helped him a lot.
