100% English-taught Engineering Program in Kyoto, Japan

Established in 1696 in Kyoto, Kyoto University of Advanced Science (KUAS), with over 50-year history, is an accredited private educational institution in the academic heartland of Japan. To take the next step and challenge on the global scale, in 2019, KUAS invited a top-notch CEO of a Kyoto-based globally successful firm as chairman, Mr. Shigenobu Nagamori, founder of Nidec Corporation, the No. 1 motor manufacture worldwide, aiming to offer its academic resources in the international arena. The establishment of this innovative English-taught engineering program is one major example of these efforts, as KUAS continues to strengthen its commitment to being at the apex of modern education.

About the University
There are currently around 3,600 students at KUAS, among which 70 are international students. For Japanese-taught programs, the university is organized into five faculties and five graduate schools. The undergraduate faculties include the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Bioenvironmental Science, the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, and the Faculty of Engineering. The graduate schools include the Graduate School of Economics, the Graduate School of Business Administration, the Graduate School of Human Culture, the Graduate School of Bioenvironmental Science, and the Graduate School of Engineering. Facility wise, there are two libraries with a collection of over 460,000 items, gym, yoga room, ball field, and a cafeteria.

Kyoto University of Advanced Science (KUAS) features an engineering program with close ties to the manufacturing industry, in a country that is globally acclaimed for its engineering ingenuity. This is an all-new, all-English program of engineering.
With a team of internationally distinguished faculty members and active professional engineers, the program will begin accepting students in September 2020. Focusing on the technology that will help shape our future—electric vehicles, drones, robots, AI, machinery, motor-related solutions, power generation systems and much more - we will welcome the next generation of engineers to Kyoto. To create state-of-the-art technology, it is essential to provide state-of-the-art education. - State-of-the-art Facilities: KUAS is equipped with the workshops and laboratories with state-of-art machineries and equipment, including thermal desorption analyzer, CNC machines, wire EDM machine, fiber laser cutters, 3D printers, for examples. You'd do a virtual tour of the whole new South Engineering Building. The International Student Dormitory is attached to the South Building with a library and workshop open 24 hours a day, allowing students to pursue their studies whenever they wish. Furthermore, it houses both Japanese and int'l students together to deepen their understanding of diverse cultures and values and cultivate themselves into global, ethical professionals who are capable of tackling complex issues with expert knowledge, multidisciplinary insight, creative thinking and panoramic perspective.

Undergraduates
- Tuition fee, admission fee, and insurance: Year is 1,654,410 yen (USD 15,484), Year 2 & 3 is 1,476,500 yen (USD 13,819) each, while Year 4 is 1,501,500 yen (USD 14,053). The total cost of tuition related is 6,108,910 yen (USD 57,175).
- The monthly living expense, including food, book, other personal expense, and on-campus dorm (2 meals, utility costs, and internet access inclusive at around USD 746) , is USD 1,383.
- Tuition fee, admission fee, and insurance: Year is 1,202,640 yen (USD 10,933) and Year 2 is 1,000,000 yen (USD 9,520)
- The monthly living expense, including food, book, other personal expense, and on-campus dorm (2 meals, utility costs, and internet access inclusive at around USD 746) , is USD 1,383.
Scholarship
Applicants who wish to request a scholarship are required to indicate such on their application form when applying to KUAS. This scholarship is made available for students who demonstrate high performance in academic fields. Qualified students will undergo a performance review each semester. Students who fail to meet the basic requirements will be withdrawn from the scholarship program.
- Super KUAS-E Scholarship: Stipend (for personal expenses) 1,200,000 JPY (10,909 USD)/year + Tuition exemption 100% + Admission fee exemption 100%
