• What is the Key Changes to the Digital PSAT?

The biggest change is "Adaptive Testing." The total time is shorter, reading passages are briefer with one question each, and calculators are permitted throughout the Math section. Additionally, scores are released much faster than the paper-and-pencil version.

• Does the PSAT/NMSQT offer value for non-U.S. citizens?​

While the National Merit Scholarship is limited to U.S. citizens or permanent residents, the PSAT is still highly valuable for international students. It serves as an accurate practice run for the SAT and allows universities to identify talented applicants, increasing your visibility in the admissions process.

• Can I register for the PSAT/NMSQT directly without taking the PSAT 8/9 or 10?

Yes. These tests are independent of each other. While taking them sequentially helps track academic growth, an 11th grader can jump straight into the PSAT/NMSQT even if they haven't taken the PSAT 8/9 or 10.

• Can I register for the PSAT online by myself?

No. Unlike the SAT, you cannot register for the PSAT individually through the website. Students must register through their school or an authorized testing center. If your school doesn't offer the test, contact us for assistance in finding a testing location.

•  When Will I Get My PSAT Scores?

Since the transition to the Digital PSAT in 2023, the score release turnaround time has significantly improved:

1. Estimated Timeline: You can typically expect your scores within 4 to 6 weeks after your test date.
2. October Testing: For those taking the test in October, scores are usually released in mid-to-late November via the BigFuture School App or your College Board account.
3. How to Access: You will receive an email notification once your scores are ready. You can log in to the College Board official website to view your detailed score report, which includes section scores and performance insights.

• Are PSAT scores shared with universities during the admissions process?

Not automatically. PSAT scores are primarily for the student's and parents' reference. Colleges generally only look at SAT or ACT scores for admissions. However, an outstanding PSAT score can be a highlight on your resume, and colleges may proactively invite you to apply.
