If you are a middle or high school student preparing for overseas university applications, the PSAT (Preliminary SAT) is one of the most strategic exams you can take early.

Administered by College Board, the same organization that runs the SAT and AP exams, the PSAT is designed to help students understand their academic level, become familiar with the digital test format, and build a clear preparation plan for future standardized tests.

What is the PSAT?
The PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test) is the official practice version of the SAT.
It evaluates key academic skills in:

• Mathematics

Why Take the PSAT?

• Become Familiar with the Digital SAT Format: The PSAT helps students experience the real test environment in advance, including pacing, question logic, and computer-based testing tools.
• Receive an Official Score Report: Students receive a detailed score report showing Overall score, Section-level performance, Strengths and weaknesses. This allows for more precise and efficient study planning.
• Plan Your SAT and AP Strategy Early: Many students take the PSAT in Grade 10 or 11, but motivated students may start as early as Grade 8 or 9. Taking the PSAT early helps students: Understand their current level, Set realistic SAT goals, Decide which AP subjects may be suitable, Build a long-term preparation timeline.

Important Note on Scholarships
Only the October PSAT (PSAT/NMSQT) is used for National Merit Scholarship qualification, and only for eligible U.S. citizens.
The April PSAT does not offer scholarship qualification, but it remains highly valuable for academic planning and skill development.
